Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Robert McClelland supports the Chief Justice in leading the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, with responsibilities spanning case management, judicial oversight, strategic planning, and the pastoral care of judges.

Appointed Deputy Chief Justice in 2018 after serving as a Family Court judge since 2015, he previously held roles as a solicitor, barrister, and Commonwealth Attorney-General. With decades of experience across practice, politics, and the judiciary, DCJ McClelland offers a unique perspective, combining legal expertise with a strong commitment to reform, accessibility, and the effective operation of Australia’s family law system.
